My 2011 Christmas card is my own strange take on the three wise men. Enjoy, and have a great time this holiday season!
Here's a new piece I've put together for an upcoming group show at OTTO in Fullerton, CA. Duck trees!
This Friday, October 7, 2011, a small exhibition of my work will open at OTTO in Fullerton, CA. They're calling it "A Trip to Leavens World," and it features my usual mix of bizarre creatures and strange landscapes. If you're in or near Southern California, stop by on Friday and say, "Hello!" Opening reception takes place during the Fullerton Art Walk from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Here's a new piece of art that I created for an October, 2011 exhibition at OTTO in Fullerton, CA. The show is set to be called "Leavens World" (HA!) and will start on October 7 and run for the remainder of the month.
Last year I was invited to take part in an incredible collaboration which brought some of the best vector artists together for charity. Illustrator Stephen Chan coordinated a the project, which saw the artists of the BloodSweatVector collective team up with the artist-driven Renmen Project.
I recently dropped off dozens of limited-edition, signed and numbered prints Mindfulnest, an LA-area shop and gallery featuring great art and hand-made items by local artists and artisans. This Saturday, April 23rd, 2011, I'll be participating in an artist meet and greet at Mindfulnest in Santa Monica.
For the second year in a row, I was invited to decorate a skateboard for the Montana Skatepark Association's annual On Deck art auction. The auction helps raise money to build and maintain skateparks in Montana, giving kids who might be otherwise-occupied something fun and mischief-free to do.
The all-new ChrisLeavens.com is finally here! After tons of delays, I finally found the time to completely overhaul the site, moving it to an entirely new backend powered by Drupal 7. My hope is that the newest iteration of the site better conveys the look and feel of my artwork.
Dudleyas grow in canyons here in California. I have one planted on the side of my house, but it was hit by a car so it looks all mangled now. Mine has crazy tendrils that will start flowering any day now.
Here are a few quick photos of my show at dialect in downtown LA! Show runs through February 5, so stop by if you're in town. More show info here. Thanks to everyone who came to the opening and art walk.
